Born with symbrachydactyly, a congenital upper limb difference in which the fingers on her left hand did not fully develop, she draws from her lived experiences to guide children as they learn to navigate the world around them. Eliette serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of the Helping Hand Project, a non-profit dedicated to empowering the limb difference community with customized 3D printed prosthetics, education, and outreach initiatives. She holds a degree in Microbiology from North Carolina State University and is an aspiring physician assistant. Co-facilitating an amputee support group at a hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, has given Eliette an immense sense of purpose that fuels both her advocacy and her writing. Through the years, she has learned to embrace the hand she was dealt (literally) and strives to help others do the same self-acceptance, and the idea that what makes us different can also make us special.
